Mrs. Cordelia Udeh, a remarkable individual whose life story is nothing short of inspiring. Born on the 5th of May 1955 into the family of Ben Ozomadu in the serene village of Ozom Umueze Obinofia Ndi-Uno in Enugu state, she embarked on a journey that would leave an indelible mark on those around her. Mrs. Udeh's early years were shaped by a strong sense of duty and responsibility instilled in her by her family.
Her educational journey began at Igala Primary School in Igala, Kogi State where she exhibited a keen intellect and unwavering determination to excel. This foundation paved the way for her enrollment into the Nigerian correctional Service (NCOS)Formally known as Nigeria Prison service (NPS)1976 to 1996 there she served as a wardress and at same time continued her secondary education at Holy Ghost Secondary School in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. It was evident from a young age that Cordelia possessed a rare combination of intelligence, diligence, and resilience.
After completing her secondary education, Mrs. Udeh pursued further studies and earned a degree at National Certification of Education in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Armed with knowledge and a thirst for success, she set out to make a difference in the world.
Her tenure in the Prison Warden Service was characterized by her commitment to upholding the rule of law, ensuring the safety and security of inmates, and promoting rehabilitation and reformation.
Outside of her professional duties, Mrs. Udeh was a trailblazer in community service and leadership. From 1998 to 2001, she served as the First Secretary of the Police Wives Association (PWA), where she spearheaded numerous initiatives to support families of law enforcement
Continuing her legacy of service Under her stewardship, Cordelia Udeh was a remarkable woman whose presence radiated faith and devotion in every aspect of her life. Born into this world with a purpose greater than herself, Mrs. Udeh's journey as a devout Christian unfolded at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic police Chaplency in Abakaliki, where she worshipped with unwavering commitment and unwavering dedication. It was within the walls of this sacred place that her faith thrived, and her actions spoke louder than any words could convey.
Being recognized as a Mother of Faith was a testament to Mrs. Udeh's profound connection to her spiritual beliefs. Her unwavering dedication to serving her community and uplifting those around her and being a mother to many set her apart as a beacon of light and inspiration. As she assumed the roles of both the Matron of the Catholic Women's Organization (CWO) at SS Peter and Paul Catholic police chaplency and the Youth Matron at St. John Catholic Church in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Mrs. Udeh embraced her responsibilities with grace, compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose which made the church dedicate a Chaplency in her name.
Her commitment to the values of faith, love, and service extended beyond the church walls. Mrs. Udeh's contributions to society were manifold, earning her recognition and respect from all those who crossed her path. Her merit award from the Newa organization was a testament to her selfless efforts and unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in the world. She also travelled to Israel on a pilgrimage that earned her the title of Jerusalem Pilgrimage (JP).
Among her many contributions to the Police quarters. Mrs. Udeh's role as the founder of the Police Children Nursery School in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, in 1989. stands out as a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and empowerment. By providing a nurturing environment for the children of police officers, Mrs. Udeh ensured that future generations would have access to quality education and a brighter future.
In addition to her educational endeavors, Mrs. Udeh also assisted in the establishment of borehole in the police quarters, ensuring that clean water was accessible to all. As a secretary of Police Wives Association (PWA), her selfless acts of kindness and generosity, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and service.
Married to the late Mr. Francis Chikereze Udeh (ASP) a dedicated police officer, Mrs. Udeh shared her life with a man who shared her values of service and commitment to others. Together, they raised two loving boys and four girls, instilling in them the same values of faith, love, and compassion that defined their own lives.
Mummy Cordelia Nwaeligo Udeh was indeed a jewel of inestimable value to SS Peter/ Paul Catholic Police Chaplaincy. She was among the pioneer members of the chaplaincy which came to limelight in the year 2011.
She practically aided Rev. Fr. Peter Mbanugo,( the pioneer Chaplain of the chaplaincy) to move from house to house scouting for Catholic families that eventually formed the parishioners of the chaplaincy.
At exactly third Sunday of the existence of the church, Mummy Udeh gathered mother's and formed the CWO of the chaplaincy. She singlehandedly conducted an election and instituted the executive members of the organization which has remained formidable till date. Untill her demise, she was the Matron of CWO of SS Peter/Paul Catholic Police Chaplaincy, Abakaliki.
Mummy Udeh singlehandedly tiled and beautified the church altar. She was always after the welfare of all the chaplains posted to the church. She was indeed the mother Theresa of our time.
Her commitment and philanthropic nature endeared her to the hearts of many in and out of the church. This is particularly why the church deemed it necessary to honor her with an award and the title of Nne Ife of SS Peter/Paul Catholic Police Chaplaincy Abakaliki.
Mummy Udeh's contribution to the growth and development of the church cannot be overemphasized and that is why her exit hit the church like a thunderbolt. In all these, we take solace in the lord as we believe that heaven has called home a saint.
